What is the newest CS2 case?
The newest CS2 weapon case is the Fever Case. Valve added it to the Armory on 31 March 2025, in the Spring Forward update. Valve described it as "the all-new Fever Case, featuring 17 weapon finishes from community contributors and Shattered Web knives in Chroma finishes."
We read Valve's announcements and release notes from April 2025 to 27 September 2026 and found no new weapon case in that time. That does not mean Valve stopped adding items. It changed how new items arrive, which we cover below.
This page lists the six newest cases, when each came out, what is inside, and what each cost on 27 September 2026. Release dates link to Valve's own posts.

| Dreams & Nightmares Case | 20 Jan 2022 | 17 | Bowie, Butterfly, Falchion, Huntsman Knives and Shadow Daggers | $1.02 | $1.52 |
Case price is the lowest listing across five cash markets. Source for prices: CSRated price snapshot, 27 September 2026. Release dates are from Valve's posts in the sources list. A key costs $2.49 on top of the case price.
Every one of these cases holds 17 skins. That matches what Valve wrote for each launch, for example the Kilowatt Case notes: "Introducing the Kilowatt Case, featuring 17 community-designed weapon finishes, and the Kukri Knife with original finishes as a rare special item."
What is inside each new case?
Each case has five rarities. The top two tiers are what most people look at: the two Covert (red) skins, and the rare special items (knives or gloves).
| Case | Covert skins | Rare items | Chance of a rare item |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fever Case | AWP Printstream, FAMAS Bad Trip | 4 Shattered Web knives in Chroma finishes | 0.26% |
| Gallery Case | M4A1-S Vaporwave, Glock-18 Gold Toof | Kukri Knife | 0.26% |
| Kilowatt Case | AK-47 Inheritance, AWP Chrome Cannon | Kukri Knife, original finishes | 0.26% |
| Revolution Case | M4A4 Temukau, AK-47 Head Shot | The gloves from the Clutch Case | 0.26% |
| Recoil Case | USP-S Printstream, AWP Chromatic Aberration | The Broken Fang Case gloves | 0.26% |
| Dreams & Nightmares Case | AK-47 Nightwish, MP9 Starlight Protector | The Gamma knives from the Operation Riptide Case | 0.26% |
The 0.26% chance is the same for every weapon case. It comes from the odds Valve's Chinese partner published in 2017, shown on our drop rates page. The rare item descriptions come from Valve's launch posts: the Revolution Case has "the gloves from the Clutch Case", the Recoil Case has "the Broken Fang Case Gloves", and the Dreams & Nightmares Case has "the Gamma Knives from the Operation Riptide case."
Each case page lists every skin with its price range across wears, and links to its collection. For example, the Fever Case skins are all on the Fever Collection page.
How did the newest cases arrive?
Valve has used a few different routes for new cases, and the route matters for how many exist.
As an in-game drop. The older cases in the list arrived this way. Valve said the Recoil Case was "dropping in-game now" and that the Dreams & Nightmares Case was "now available as an in-game drop and from the Steam Community Market." The Revolution Case post said it was "now available in-game."
Through the Armory. On 2 October 2024 Valve launched the Armory, a store where you earn credits by playing with a paid Armory Pass. The release notes list "the Gallery Case" among the first Armory items. The Fever Case followed in March 2025. Valve later took the Gallery Case out: the 1 October 2025 notes say "Removed Gallery Case, Graphic Collection, and Character Craft stickers from The Armory." Our Armory Pass guide covers how the credits work.
Through Terminals, not cases. From September 2025, Valve's new community collections have come through Terminals instead. The Genesis Collection arrived on 16 September 2025, and Valve said its items "can be accessed via Genesis Uplink Terminals, which are available as a weekly drop" (Show Off). The Dead Hand Collection followed on 11 March 2026, "featuring 17 finishes from community contributors and 22 all-new gloves as rare special items," which Valve said you "can purchase" from Dead Hand Terminals (The Dead Hand).
Terminals are not weapon cases, so they are not in our case list or the Case EV tool. If you searched for a "new case" in 2026, the Dead Hand Terminal is probably the item you saw.
How much do the newest cases cost to open?
The case price is only part of the cost. Every opening also needs a $2.49 key, bought in the game. Here is what one opening cost and what it was worth on average, using the same method as our Case EV tool.
| Case | Cost with key | Value of one opening | Return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fever Case | $3.07 | $1.39 | 45% |
| Gallery Case | $3.10 | $1.96 | 63% |
| Kilowatt Case | $2.60 | $0.94 | 36% |
| Revolution Case | $2.67 | $1.44 | 54% |
| Recoil Case | $2.73 | $1.49 | 55% |
| Dreams & Nightmares Case | $3.51 | $1.54 | 44% |
Source: CSRated price snapshot, 27 September 2026. Return is the value of one opening divided by the case plus key cost, before any selling fee.
None of the six newest cases gave back more than 63% on average. The Kilowatt Case had the lowest return of all 42 cases we track. New cases are cheap to buy, but so are most of the skins inside them. The Fever Case's seven Mil-Spec skins averaged about 26 cents each in our snapshot, and a Mil-Spec skin is what about 80% of openings give you.
If you want to see how a new case behaves over many openings without paying, the free case simulator uses the real odds. Each case has its own page, for example the Fever Case simulator. If you do open real cases, decide on a limit first. Our responsible gaming page explains how.
Why are new case prices so low?
We can show what the prices are, but not fully why. A few things in our data are worth noting.
- Lots of supply. The Kilowatt Case had over 147,000 cash listings on 27 September 2026, and the Fever Case almost 25,000. The Operation Riptide Case, from September 2021, had about 3,700 and cost $7.90.
- Armory releases. The Gallery Case and Fever Case were released through the Armory rather than as a drop, so how many exist depended partly on how many players redeemed them. The Gallery Case can no longer be redeemed there.
- Valve can change the rules. Which cases drop, and what the Armory offers, can change with any update.
Our guide on how case drop pool changes affect prices explains how these changes have moved case prices before. Past moves do not tell you what a case will do next.
How can you check for a new case yourself?
Valve announces new cases and collections in its release notes on counter-strike.net and in the Steam news feed for CS2. Look for the Armory, weekly care package and Terminal sections of each update.
Our all cases page lists every weapon case we track, newest first, with its release date and today's price. When Valve adds a new weapon case, it appears there once it is in our item data.
