What does the skin comparison tool show?
It puts two or three CS2 skins next to each other in one table. For each skin you see its rarity, float range, the wears it can have, the lowest price in every wear, the 30-day median sale and how many times each wear sold. You also see which collection and case it comes from, with a link to its price page when we have one.
It is built for the moment you are stuck between two skins. Maybe you want an AK-47 and cannot decide between two finishes, or you want the cheapest good-looking M4. Seeing the numbers side by side makes the choice much easier.
Where do the prices come from?
All prices come from one marketplace, Skinport, through its public API. We take a snapshot on a schedule and show its time under the tool. We do not show prices from other sites, so the numbers here are not the whole market.
Each price cell has three parts:

The lowest listing is what you would pay today. The median is a better guide to what the skin is really worth, because one cheap or silly listing cannot move it much. The sales count tells you how easy the skin is to buy and sell. A wear with 300 sales a month is easy to trade. A wear with 5 sales can take a while.
Green marks the cheapest of the skins you picked in each row, so you can spot the best deal at a glance.
How are float range and wears worked out?
Every skin has a minimum and maximum float, from our open item dataset. The wear name comes from where the float sits:

A skin can only have the wears that overlap its float range. If a skin's float range starts at 0.10, it can never be Factory New. The table says "Not possible" in that case, so you do not go looking for a wear that does not exist. To check where a single float sits, use the float checker. Worked example 1: AK-47 Redline vs AK-47 Vulcan
These numbers are from the 24 Sep 2026 Skinport snapshot, taken at 03:38 UTC.
The Redline is a Classified skin from The Phoenix Collection, found in the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case. Its float range is 0.10 to 0.70, so it can be Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred, but never Factory New.
The Vulcan is a Covert skin from The Huntsman Collection, found in the Huntsman Weapon Case. Its float range is 0.00 to 0.90, so all five wears are possible.

What this tells you: a Field-Tested Redline costs about one seventh of a Field-Tested Vulcan. The Redline is also far easier to trade in Field-Tested, with 317 sales in 30 days. Notice the jump from Field-Tested to Minimal Wear on the Redline. It costs about six times more, because Minimal Wear Redlines are rare in its float range.
Worked example 2: two M4 skins and an AWP
Same snapshot, 24 Sep 2026. Say you want a rifle skin around $10 to $15 and are comparing the M4A4 Desolate Space, the M4A1-S Decimator and, for fun, the AWP Asiimov.

The two M4 skins are close in Field-Tested, but the Desolate Space sold 243 times in 30 days against 120 for the Decimator. That makes it the easier one to sell later. The Asiimov has a float range of 0.18 to 1.00, so it cannot be Factory New or Minimal Wear at all, and even its cheapest wear costs more than six Field-Tested M4 skins.
What should you watch out for?
- Floats inside a wear matter. A 0.15 Field-Tested can look close to Minimal Wear and sell for more than a 0.37 one. The table shows the cheapest listing, which is usually a high float.
- Patterns and stickers are not counted. Some skins sell for a lot more because of a rare pattern or an applied sticker. Read how CS2 skin prices work.
- Low sales mean shaky prices. When a wear sold only a few times, the median can swing a lot from month to month.
- No listing does not mean no value. It only means nobody had one listed on Skinport when we checked.
When should you use it?
Use it when you are choosing between skins before you buy, or when you want to know which wear gives the best value.
